Tour overview:
Day 1:

Arrival in Sofia

Transfer from the airport and accommodation in 4* hotel in Sofia.

Day 2:

Sofia city tour.

Day 3:

Sofia – Rila monastery – Borovets.

Accommodation in 4* hotel in Borovets.

Day 4:

Borovets – Plovdiv.

Walking tour of the old quarter of Plovdiv and visit to Bachkovo monastery (details are shown below). Accommodation in 4* hotel in Plovdiv.

Day 5:

Plovdiv – Kazanlak – Etar – Veliko Tarnovo.

Visit of the Thracian tomb in Kazanlak and Samovodskata Charshia in Etar ethnographical complex. Accommodation in 4* hotel in Veliko Tarnovo. Option to watch at an extra charge the show “Sound and Light”.

Day 6:

Veliko Tarnovo.

Tour of Tsarevets hill. Departure to Sofia. Accommodation in 4* hotel.

Day 7:

Free time in Sofia or transfer to the airport, depending on flights. Rooms should be vacated by 12:00h.

The program includes 6 nights on BB basis – 3 nights in Sofia, 1 night in Borovets, 1 night in Plovdiv, 1 night in Veliko Tarnovo; transfer with an air-conditioned coach; English speaking guide throughout the entire trip, refreshments during couch travel – mineral water, tea, coffee, fruits.

PROGRAM
Day 1:

Arrival at Sofia Airport. Transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Sofia*.

Day 2:

Breakfast. Sightseeing tour of Sofia – The St. Nedelya Cathedral, St. George Rotunda, Russian church of St. Nicolas, the church of St. Sophia, St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Ivan Vazov National Theater. A visit to the National Museum of History and the Boyana Church. The Boyana Church is included in the UNESCO List of World Cultural Heritage and has preserved frescoes of an unknown artist, which date back to the year 1259. The frescoes impress with the spirituality and expressiveness of their images, created 7 years before the birth of Giotto di Bondone, considered to be the first Renaissance artist. Overnight stay in Sofia.

Day 3:

Breakfast. A tour of Rila Monastery – the biggest monasteri in Bulgaria, founded in the 10th century by the monk and hermit St. John of Rila, patron and protector of Bulgaria. The monastery served as the center for cultural and spiritual life of the Bulgarian people, during the centuries of foreign enslavement.

The tour includes a visit to the monastery, the main church and the monastery museum.

  • We suggest lunch en route (near the rila monastery) and dinner in hotel in Borovets. Guests can relax in the spa centre of the hotel.

Guests can use free of charge the swimming pool, sauna and fitness.

Lunch supplement per person -13 Euro.

Day 4:

Breakfast. Departure for Plovdiv – one of Europe’s most ancient cities, older than Athens, Rome and Constantinople. Arrival. Sightseeing tour of Plovdiv – a tour of the old town, which consists of one of the most spectacular ensembles of town houses from the period of the Bulgarian National Revival (middle of the 18th century until the end of the 19th century). Visit to the Saints Constantine and Helena Church, Roman Theatre, Regional Ethnographic Museum, Balabanova House. Visit of the Bachkovo monastery – the second latgest and oldest in Bulgaria,preserving the frescoes of the prominent bulgarian artist Zahari Zograf. Overnight stay in Plovdiv.

Day 5:

Departure for Kazanlak – the city of artists, roses and Thracian kings. A visit to the Thracian Tomb of Kazanlak. The tomb is part of a great Thracian necropolis that dates back to the 4th century B.C. It has been a part of the UNESCO List of World Cultural Heritage since 1979. Departure for Veliko Tarnovo – the capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire (1187-1396). On the way – stop at the Etar Architectural-Ethnographic Complex, which portrays the way of life, traditions, customs and economic background of the Bulgarians during the National Revival period ( 17-19 century). Overnight in Veliko Tarnovo. Possibility to watch laser show over the Tsarevets Hill – “Sound and Light”, telling the history of the old capital in a very intuitive way using lights and sounds effects. The show is available at an extra charge, depending on the number of people.

  • We suggest lunch in Kazanlak and dinner in hotel in Veliko Tarnovo.

Day 6:

Breakfast. Sightseeing in Veliko Tarnovo – Tsarevets hill, Samovodska Charshia. Departure for Sofia. Arrival in Sofia in the late afternoon. Accommodation at the hotel. Overnight stay in Sofia.

Day 7:

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport. Departure.

The 7-day tour of Bulgaria costs 575 EURO per person.

Price is valid for groups of at least 15 people.
